Watched this lovely simple movie with my dear yesterday afternoon… It is a really nice and simple piece of independent love story film… I like the way the story of the film is structured in a 500 days timeline where audience is being brought forward and back in time. I got to say that the way the story is told is the most creative and interesting stuff I get out from the film… The story itself is not that good… kind of monotonous if not for the creative way of telling it…
My Verdict: 2.5/5 (Again, Good way of telling a story… Yap! That’s All…)

Been very free recently, waiting for calls for interview… Keep updating my blog… keep watching movies… Haha… Finally I got to watch this classic war movie… Platoon by Oliver Stone… It is such a cool movie made in 1986… Got a chacne to see the young look of some of the reknown actors… William Dafoe, Charlie Sheen, john Mcginley… Best of all is Johnny Depp… I knew he was casted in the film but I cannot spot him!!!! Cos he is damn young and you can’t recognise him… og my god… did he go korea for a face lift? Nevertheless this is a good classic war film about U.S and Vietnam. The other film that is similar to this I believe is We Were Soldier… Comparing both Platoon has more focus on soldiers feeling and humanity during war time as for We Were Soldier, it is more about glory and war tactics…
My Verdict: 4/5 (Classic, Truly Classic…)

The Hurt Locker by Kathryn Bigelow… Watch this movie yesterday night… An independent film with no super star casting but intriguing story line. … It is full of suspense… A simple film revolving around a team of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (E.O.D) but with a not so simple idea behind it. The feeling and thoughts of the U.S Army soldier in Afghanistan, risking their life for nothing… Yes, sometimes they don;t know why they have to fight this war… Some are just disillusion… Just living day by day diffusing bombs… awaiting the day of their death… Well this film though is deep but not that deep either… nevertheless keep me accompanied for the night at least…
My Verdict: 3.5/5 stars (Anyway, did I mention this film is shot by a lady director? haha… not bad yah?! )
Enough of the random ranting from the previous feel post. I ahve been watching a number of films recently and I do really what to recommend 3 films I recently watched.

1. Silmido by Woo-Suk Kang
Rating: 5 / 5 Stars
Been introduced to this film by the tour guide when I was touring Korea. A very GOOD Film about the history of North and South Korea. In short, a group of criminal sentenced to death was given a second chance to live and fight for the country. They were trained 3 years to assassinate president of North Korea but when they are going out on the mission, the mission is canceled and they are disband. Their trainers are forced to kill them and here comes the struggle between live and humanity. Woah… An amazing piece of historical film from a young film industry… A MUST SEE!!!

2. Inglourious Basterds by Quentin Tarantino
Rating: 4/5 Stars
A great piece of work from Quentin Tarantino. Nicely crafted and shot. The acting was the main thing that captured my attention for a long 2hr plus film… Brad Pitt was great but the Christoph Waltz who acted as the Col Hans Landa was fantastic! His acting and subtext in every words he said is the key element of the whole film… Nicely crafted in 6 wonderful short chapters, this film will be a classic for those Directors wannabe…

3. The Chaser by Na Hong-jin
Rating: 3.5/5 stars
Chaser the second Korean film that I watched… ha-ha most probably from the Korean wave that I brought back from my trip. This show is a killer thriller suspense show of a guy chasing down on a pervert killer… Good work from a first time director and a film worth watching…. Again, I feel that Korean film industry is an area that one should look out for some really nice good films…

Woahahaha… what a nice date with your girlfriend to watch a nice funny show. A good date for Shiqi and I to celebrate our 2 yr 8 mth anniversary together with this film.
Well, this is a very colourful and clever story that is crafted around an UGLY actor. Yes! Can you imagine casting an UGLY person as a main lead? The visual is something like what I have done for my FYP short film. One thing that this film is better is the soft look they created in the film. Mine, shot on digital, lost out on this. Anyway, the story is well craft with foreshadow all the way from the start till the end. With a very nice and heart warming twist, it makes this film fulfilling to watch. However, the critque is that at certain point the film tends to be flat. If not for the colorful visual and comical shooting style, the film will just be a normal film.
My Overall Verdict: 3 or of 5 Star. Average, good film. I just like the Art Direction Style. Something I like that have been applied in most of my work.
